Humble Tip: Swerving and Curving Through Hickory

On Friday, September 12, 2025, Humble Tip came to Hickory High School to perform his concert “A Beautiful Tomorrow.”

This school rap concert was performed by none other than Jason Lewis, also known as Humble Tip. Humble goes around performing his songs to students while also sharing an important message. The primary goal is for him to inspire every student to believe that if they have faith in themselves and work hard, they will have a beautiful tomorrow. This year, he changed it up from a whole 1-hour and 30-minute story concert to a 45-minute concert, ending with the song “Swerving and Curving.”

Students were swerving and curving in the crowds to the music Humble Tip was preaching. As the concert was coming to an end, Humble Tip could hear the sorrows of all the students not wanting to leave. As they were getting ready to head out, he reminded them that “YOU WILL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW, ” leaving students motivated and inspired. Autographs were made, and people were begging for his picture, an idol to us all, at Hickory.

Gabrielle Pena is currently a junior. Gabby enjoys writing and has done consistently well in English. She helps ensure spelling is always adequate with publishing newsletters. She’s also had some experience in writing journal entries, joining the newspaper club, and taking a writers workshop class.

Kami Lane, Feature Columnist

Kami Lane is a current senior with the goal of majoring in criminology and becoming a lawyer. Kami quickly picked up a passion for journalism when she started showing interest in sharing her opinions and views on topics. Here at Hickory High School, she strives to make information on events easily accessible and connect the students through writing.
