Hickory High School’s Homecoming Weekend Brings the Community Together
Hickory High School’s Homecoming was celebrated over two exciting and memorable days this past weekend, bringing students, families, and staff together to honor school spirit and tradition.
The festivities kicked off on Friday night with the highly anticipated Homecoming Football Game against Nansemond River. As the sun set, students, parents, and community members packed the stands. The marching band filled the air with lively music, the cheerleaders led chants, and the student section buzzed with energy.
On the field, the Hawks gave it their all under the bright stadium lights. The game was close and intense, with both teams showing impressive skill and determination. Despite their hard work, the Hawks ultimately fell short with a final score of 27–20. Even in defeat, the crowd’s enthusiasm never wavered. At halftime, adding to the excitement, there was the crowning of Tyler Trago and Anaiah Williams: our homecoming king and Queen.
The celebration didn’t end there. Saturday night brought the annual Homecoming Dance, one of the most anticipated events of the school year. The cafeteria was transformed into a vibrant space, decorated with shimmering lights and themed around “Mamma Mia”, giving the night a fun vibe inspired by the beloved musical/movie. Students arrived in their best outfits, snapping pictures with friends at the photo booths, enjoying music from the DJ, and dancing the night away.
Teachers and chaperones were also present, ensuring everyone had a safe and enjoyable evening.
